Reading Round Up: November Part 2

Hello Friends! Im probably going to keep this round up short and sweet! What have you been reading lately? Any new favorite reads?

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey eddings – 3 Stars After not really enjoying Mazey’s first book I was not going to pick this one up but I kept seeing really good reviews for it so I read it anyways. Next time I will listen to my gut. This book was fine, not really good or bad. I listened to most of it on audio and the male narrator really drove me nuts. If you are interested in this one than I would check other reviews that maybe enjoyed it more.

River Marked by Patricia Briggs – 4 Stars – Re-Read – This is book 6 in this series and follows Mercy as she goes on a trip and meets other Walkers like her as well as fight an ancient being. These books are a lot of fun and I am happy to be back in this world.

A Cosmic Kind of Love by Samantha Young – 4 Stars This was a fun romance about an event planner and an astronaut. After Hallie’s new bride sends her video diaries of her ex the famous Astronaut Christopher Ortiz, Hallie decides to watch them and becomes enamored with Christopher. Feeling guilty she sends him a message letting him know that she watched them but the message bounces back. Christopher actually does get the message and after watching it decides he wants to meet. Their romance was really cute and fun to read about and the deception between the two doesn’t last the entire book so I was happy about that. Highly recommend this one!

The Fine Print by Lauren Asher – 2.5 Stars Only pushed myself to finish because I want to read book2 and wanted to make sure I didn’t miss anything. I have heard book two is better so heres hoping! This follows a billionaire who runs a Disney like theme park and the woman he doesn’t want to like. I felt the male mc was just not great for most of the book and the female mc was just plain annoying and just really struggled with caring about the outcome. Hopefully the next one works for me!

End Of Year Book Tag

Hi friends! I thought today would be a good day to do The End Of Year Book Tag. This Tag was created by @Ariel Bissett over on youtube and her video can be found here: https://youtu.be/UddPv6ROQXk

Tag Questions:

1. Are there any books you started this year that you need to finish? I started all three of these in the last half of the year and set them aside for different reasons but I am hoping to get them finished before the end of the year.

2. Do you have an autumnal book to transition into the end of the year? No, Im such a mood reader that I just pick up what ever sounds good. I also don’t really enjoy holiday themed books so I don’t tend to pick those up unless they are buddy reads.

3. Is there a new release you’re still waiting for? Both of these come out in December and I have been patiently waiting for Drama King to come out!

4. What are three books you want to read before the end of the year? I have all three of these waiting on my shelf or on my Librofm app and will hopefully get to all three in the next week.

5. Is there a book you think could still shock you and become your favorite book of the year? I think Drama King could be a favorite of the year but it wouldn’t surprise me.

6. Have you already started making reading plans for 2023? Yes! I have some arc’s for January that I am starting to prioritize. I am also starting to set up my 2023 reading bullet journal.

Top 5 Tuesday: November 15th 2022

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads. This weeks is: Top 5 books set in the future.

Today’s was a little hard but I think I found some good ones! What are some of your favorite books that are set in the future?

The Hitchhiker’s Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams – Classic sci-fi about a man who is rescued right before Earth is destroyed and the adventures he goes on. Read this one a long time ago and remember it being funny.

Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card – Another classic sci-fi that follows Ender has he is being trained at a school, can’t really say a lot about this one as it would give things away.

Naked In Death by J.D. Robb – Futuristic sci-fi thriller that was a lot of fun to read and can’t wait to someday read more from this series.

Ready Player One by Ernest Cline – While this one is not a favorite of mine I can say that the premise was unique and at times an enjoyable read.

Wool by Hugh Howey – This is a post apocalyptic book where I believe everyone lives underground. I haven’t read this one but my husband really enjoyed this series.

Reading Round Up: November Part 1

Hello Friends! Im a little late with my first round up for November but my house was hit with a sickness and it has taken a lot of my time. I am still in my comfort re-reads and still really enjoying them!

Bone Crossed by Patricia Briggs – 4 Stars Book 4 in the Mercy Thompson series that follows Mercy as she is dealing with a vendetta against her by the Vampires. I am really enjoying my re-read of this series and can’t wait till I get to books I haven’t read yet. If you like Urban Fantasy then I recommend this series.

The Wedding Ranch by Nancy Naigle – 2 Stars I don’t like talking bad about books that didn’t work for me because I think this book would be loved by other readers. That being said I had a hard time with the cutesyness of this book, it felt very hallmark to me and that is not my thing. I also think that the interwoven faith aspects just took me out of the story but again this is something I don’t like in books but others do enjoy. This story follows Lorrie as she finds her place in her new neighborhood after she moves on after a divorce. Her she meets Ryder who has some things from his past that he is still dealing with. Their story centers around a place called The Wedding Ranch which Ryder’s family runs and Lorrie does work for. If you enjoy small town romances than this one might work for you. Thank you St. Martin’s Press for my #gifted copy, all opinions are my own.

Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs – 4 Stars Book 5 in the Mercy Thompson series. In this one Mercy is looking for a friend that has gone missing and after she is attacked must find out who took her friend and why they are after her.

Double Exposure by Jeanne Sacken – 3 Stars I really enjoyed this one and even though it it book 2 and I haven’t read the first one yet I never felt lost in the story. This story follows a photo journalist as she works to rebuild an all girls school in Afghanistan but when she goes to check up on it other things are going on. I will say that at times this book was a little tough to read because of subject matter so if you need trigger warnings I would look into those. Im excited for book 3 and see where the story goes from here! Thank you to the author and GetRedPR for my gifted copy for review.

The Deal by Elle Kennedy – 4 Stars This was a re-read for me and I still enjoyed this book even for the 3rd time. While New Adult romances are not my favorite every once in awhile they really hit the spot. This is a hockey romance that starts out with fake dating between Hannah and Garrett. This book has steamy scenes as well as some harder hitting topics.

Let’s Talk Bookish – November 11th

Friday’s are for The Let’s Talk Bookish Meme which is a weekly meme created by Rukky@EternityBooks and is now hosted by Aria @Booknookbits.

Todays topic is Do you use your local library? (Mikaela @ Mikaela Reads)

Do you have a local library you go to often? I don’t use it as much as I used to when my kids were smaller. At some point during the last two years I just got out of my habit of going every week. I do use my library’s apps all the time though, Axis 360 and Libby are a must for me!

Does your school/did your school have a library? I have such good memories of my elementary’s library and I think that is part of the reason why I love reading so much. You could get rewards to spend free time in the library and in there they had secret places to read. I remember one was like a little castle with all kinds of pillows and stuffies inside!

What are your favorite things about libraries? The quiet!

Are there certain books you borrow from your local library more or less often than others? Not really but I do get any books that I am mildly interested in.

Do you use your local library? Let me know in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday – November 8th

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

This weeks Top Ten is: November 8: Series I’d Like to Start/Catch up on/Finish

  • Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs – I started this series over and am about to start book 7!
  • A Lady’s Guide series by Manda Collins – I am on book 2 and would like to read before book 3 that comes out early next year.
  • Kingmaker Chronicles by Amanda Bouchet – I recently read book 2 and really didn’t like it but would like to eventually read book 3
  • Will Trent series by Karin Slaughter – I started this series awhile ago and am on book 6.
  • Bromance Book Club series by Lyssa Kay Adams – I have read the first. in this series ad was going to quit the series but I still have book 4 and will probably try and read since I own it.
  • Katherine “Kitty” Kat series by Gini Koch – I own most of these and some day will continue with it and will start back up with book 7.
  • Guild Hunter series by Nalini Singh – I slowly pick these up when. I get in the mood for them but they are a little dark so I space them out.
  • Black Dagger Brotherhood by JR Ward – I am on book 20 which just released in April so not too far behind on this one, hopefully I get to it before Lassiter’s book next year.
  • In Death series by JD Robb – I have only read book 1 in this series but I really enjoyed it and would like to continue someday.
  • The Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan – I started this series way back in 2001 and really loved it but about the time Brandon Sanderson took over I had stopped reading so much fantasy and just never felt like picking this series back up. I think I am on book 12 but it might be 13, I honestly don’t remember. Some day I would like to finish it because I only have 2 or 3 books left.

Cover Reveal: A Love Catastrophe by Helena Hunting

🐱 SURPRISE COVER REVEAL 🐱

The fur is about to fly between a cheerful cat sitter and a grumpy hockey nerd in this hilarious and charming rom-com from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting.

Kitty Hart has become internet famous as the Kitty Whisperer for her expertise on all things feline, and as a result, her cat-sitting business is booming. But lately, she has a terrible feeling that maybe her life isn’t quite going where it’s supposed to—especially after falling face-first into her newest client. Not exactly the best first impression.

Fortunately, Miles Thorn is just as bad at first impressions. Strike one: he doesn’t like cats, especially Prince Francis, the haughty and mischievous Sphynx his mom left in his care. Strike two: tackling her to the floor in a misguided attempt to save the pet he continually calls “the gremlin.”

As awkwardness slides into attraction and things start to turn purr-sonal, will these two complete opposites ever be able to find their furry-tail ending?
