Book Blitz: A Kiss for A Kiss by Helena Hunting

There’s a small complication.
A beautiful, sexy complication named Hanna.

A Kiss for A Kiss, an all-new second chance-at-love mature adult romance from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting is available now!

I’m Jake Masterson, single dad, and the General Manager of Seattle’s NHL team. I walked away from a career as a player so I could raise my daughter. For the last twenty-plus years, Queenie has been my main priority, but now she’s getting married.

And there’s a small complication.

A beautiful, sexy complication named Hanna.

She’s my son-in-law’s older sister. Or at least that’s how they were raised. The truth is a little more scandalous than that.

I’ve been drawn to her from the moment I laid eyes on her. And I spent months trying to keep a lid on that attraction.

Until we finally give in.

It starts with one searing kiss, but quickly ends with us between the sheets—and in the shower, and the hot tub, you get the picture—and turns into months of sneaking around.

Here’s the problem: we live on opposite ends of the country. It can’t be anything but casual. And as I’ve already said…it’s complicated.

But when Hanna finds out she’s pregnant…suddenly things get real serious.

Reading Round Up: May 1st-10th

Hello Friends! I have been struggling with writing my reviews lately which is why my round ups are taking so long to post. Im just finding it really hard to put into words how I feel about what Im reading. So some of my reviews might be short and some might not be.

Do you ever struggle with writing reviews?

The Most Beautiful Girl in Cuba by Chanel Cleeton – 4.5 Stars Link to my full review. I really enjoyed this one! But so far I have loved all the books I have read bu her.

Tools of Engagement by Tessa Bailey – DNF After giving book 2 in this series 2 stars I wasn’t sure about this one. I tried both the audio and the physical book but I just couldn’t get through it. So in the spirit of not getting into a slump I DNF’d it.

Make Up Break Up by Lily Menon – 3.5 Stars I have enjoyed Sandhya Menon’s YA book so I was happy to try her first adult romance. This was fun and easy to read enemies to lovers romance that takes place in the tech world with rival dating apps.

Last Guard by Nalini Singh – 4 Stars Last Guard is the fifth book in The Psy/Changeling Trinity series which is a continuation of The Psy/Changeling series. These series are some of my all time favorites, I love getting to go back to this world and revisit with my favorite characters. I find this series hard to write a review for because you need to know background and I don’t want to give spoilers away. So in this book we are following Canto Mercant who is in charge of intel for the Mercant family and Payal Rao who is the CEO of a huge corporation. Canto and Payal both had a traumatic childhood and were in an “institution” because they were considered defective Psy. After they are both released Payal gets sent back to her father and she must maintain being the perfect Psy so he doesn’t get rid of her. While Canto gets rescued and taken in by his mother’s family and even though the Psy don’t show emotions the Mercan’t always protect their family. I really enjoyed their story and what they had t overcome to be together. I especially enjoyed Canto’s relationship with the bears!! The bears are some of my favorite characters in this entire series!!

Both of the main characters are Psy and honestly thats my least favorite pairings to read about because Psy are usually emotionless but Canto was not and I loved him so much! The Mercant’s are such a great family to read about. This series is one that you would need to read in order as the overall story arc encompasses all the books and then each book centers on one couple. Thank you Berkley for my gifted copy for review.

Reading Round Up: April 21st – 30th

Hey Friends! so I am here today with my last round up for April and unfortunatly I didn’t write my reviews right away so some of my reviews won’t be as in depth and just more of a general feeling. I also will probably not be recapping the books I read in my reviews. Let me know below if you like summaries in your reviews.

Lover Unveiled by J. R. Ward – 4 Stars – I am so far behind with my reviews and I read this one so long ago that I am struggling with the particulars of this book. I know we got Sahvages story and I always love when we get to meet Brothers from the past. This book is number 19 in the series so we get to see some of our favorite characters again. If you love fun urban fantasies with vampires I would highly recommend picking up this series and I would start with book #1 Dark Lover because there is a huge sweeping story that covers the entire series.

To Love and To Loathe by Martha Waters – 3 Stars This story follows the widow Lady Diana Templeton as she decides to help out her friend the Marquess of Willingham in matters of a delicate nature. After breaking things off with his lates mistress Jeremy learns he may not be as good at certain things as he assumed so he asks Diana for some feedback. The banter between these two was pretty good and I enjoyed the story. I had a few small problems one of which was that after learning something delicate about another character who she says she will tell no one of, she then goes onto blab it to multiple other people. I just found this a bad character trait and took away some of my enjoyment of the book. I am curious as to who the next book will be about but I think I can make a guess and I will pick it up once it comes out. I really enjoyed the setting and characters and will be glad to revisit them all again. If you enjoy friends to lovers with some angst between them then I would recommend picking this one up. Thank you to Atria books and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.

The Secret Bridesmaid by Katy Birchall – 4 Stars I am not usually of fan of books that are centered around weddings but this cover really drew me in. I am so glad I read it because The Secret Bridesmaid was a delight to read! Sophie is a professional bridesmaid meaning she is hired by the bride to help out with wedding stuff and no one knows that she is paid to be there. Sophie gets hired by Marchioness Meade to help her daughter behind the scenes but the daughter Cordelia is having non of it!! In between Sophie trying to not get fired or run off by bride and also trying not crush on the bride’s brother we get snippets for what she has to go through for the other weddings she has been hired for. My favorite was the Star Wars themed wedding where she is asked to dress up like Chewbacca and also learn to sound like him. I was impressed with how Sophie could keep her calm during all the different things she had to go through. I already know I wouldn’t have lasted a day. I really enjoyed the different relationships that Sophie had with the brides, the wedding parties, her friends and family and even a crush. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for a very funny read! Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.

Love Her or Lose Her by Tessa Bailey – 2 Stars I basically hate read this book. I didn’t like either character and the main male really made me angry. This book follows a married couple who have some problems and the main character decides she wants to separate and the husband does not. I usually like books about married couples as I have been married a long time and I like seeing that in my romances but this one just didn’t work. I think I could have liked it more if the main male character didn’t only have two mind sets, to have sex or protect her. Thats all his inner thoughts were about and it got really old! I don’t have a lot to say other than I loved Fix Her up which was book #1 in this series and was sad this one didn’t work for me.

Second First Impressions by Sally Thorne – 4.5 Stars I wanted to go into this book with no expectations because The Hating Game is one of my all time favorite books and Im not sure another can replace it. I am happy to say while it didn’t reach THG status it did give me all the feels and I really enjoyed it. I loved the main characters Ruthie and Teddy and he was a like a big teddy bear that I just wanted to cuddle! I also was surprised the other relationships in this book. I loved Ruthie’s friendships with some of the residences and her co-worker. I also loved the turtles in this book 🐢 Ruthie is a shy sheltered girl who works and lives in a retirement home and she suffers from anxiety and refuses to ever leave the property. Teddy on the outside

The Last House Guest by Megan Miranda – 3 Stars This book took some getting into. I had started it over a year ago and set it aside because it just didn’t grab me. I ended up listening to the audio book and I ended up liking it. It is not my favorite Megan Miranda book but it was still enjoyable. There were some twists at the end that I did not see coming and thats what I like in my mystery/thrillers.

Top 5 Tuesday: May 18th

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads. This week’s topic is Top 5 adaptations you liked better than the book.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – While I love reading Jane Austen books and have many times I still prefer to watch the 1995 mini series with Colin Firth. This is still one of my go to rainy day make me feel better movies.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan – While I loved this entire trilogy and think the books are fantastic there was just something about seeing it brought to the big screen that was magical.

Persuasion by Jane Austin – Again, I love Austen but there is just something about these adaptations!

Where Did You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple – This was one of my favorite books that I read a few years ago and while I do not think the movie is better I will say it is still a great movie. I felt like they really captured the essence that was Bernadette. Highly recommend both book and movie.

Emma by Jane Austen – Last is another Austen book, however I really do not like the book Emma or most adaptations. The only good one ( in my opinion ) is the 2009 version with Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller and this probably has something to do with my love of Johnny!!

What has been one your favorite adaptations?

S4S – May 16th

Six for Sunday is a weekly meme created by A Little But A Lot and today’s topic is: Covers with plants on them. I think I am going to have a hard time narrowing this down to only 6 books! So I decided to go with books on my tbr shelf that I have recently added.

  • Horrorstor by Grady Hendrix – Horror
  • Everyone is Beautiful by Katherine Center – Contemporary Fiction – I love that she is redoing her old covers in her new style.
  • A Touch of Ruin by Scarlett St. Clair – Paranormal Romance
  • Reckless Girls by Rachel Hawkins – Thriller
  • House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland – YA Horror
  • Anchored Hearts by Priscilla Oliveras – Contemporary Romance

What is your favorite cover with plants on it?
