Top 5 Tuesday: May 18th

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads. This week’s topic is Top 5 adaptations you liked better than the book.

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen – While I love reading Jane Austen books and have many times I still prefer to watch the 1995 mini series with Colin Firth. This is still one of my go to rainy day make me feel better movies.

Crazy Rich Asians by Kevin Kwan – While I loved this entire trilogy and think the books are fantastic there was just something about seeing it brought to the big screen that was magical.

Persuasion by Jane Austin – Again, I love Austen but there is just something about these adaptations!

Where Did You Go Bernadette by Maria Semple – This was one of my favorite books that I read a few years ago and while I do not think the movie is better I will say it is still a great movie. I felt like they really captured the essence that was Bernadette. Highly recommend both book and movie.

Emma by Jane Austen – Last is another Austen book, however I really do not like the book Emma or most adaptations. The only good one ( in my opinion ) is the 2009 version with Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller and this probably has something to do with my love of Johnny!!

What has been one your favorite adaptations?

  1. I just finished reading Pride and Prejudice (first Austen book I picked up) and now I’m super curious to check out the adaptation. I’ve seen so much about it on tumblr, I know I’ll love it. 😀
