  • Look What You Made Me Do by Elaine Murphy – 50% into this one and listening to audio and physically reading it, curious to see where it goes. It follows a woman who covers up for her serial killer sister but turns out there is another killer in their small town who is now after them.
  • Bayou Sweetheart by Lexi Blake – I am 70% into it, so far it’s cute. Small town romance between a local sheriff deputy and an actress.

Top 5 Tuesday: July 12th 2022

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads. This week’s topic is Top 5 books set at school.

I could have chosen way more than 5 books for this prompt! I went through a huge new adult and sports romance phase a few years ago and I had to narrow it down to these but I had so many more I wanted to put on here!

  • Bender by Stacy Borel – College sports romance and this is the first in the series – 4 Stars
  • Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire – Set in college and follows an ultimate fighter who wants the good girl as she tries to stay away from him – 4 Stars
  • Rule by Jay Crownover – Set in college and one of my favorite new adult series, enemies to lovers and best friends brother – 4 Stars
  • Easy by Tammara Webber – Set in college and very emotional, cried numerous times – 5 Stars
  • Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell – Set in college and is about a girl who writes fan fiction and her twin wants to put distance between the two of them – 5 Stars

Where are some of your favorite books set in a school?

Reading Round Up: June 21st – 30th Part 1

Hi Friends! Here is part 1 of my last reading round up for June!

The Change by Kirsten Miller – 4 Stars This book mixes many genres so it was hard to classify it. It is part mystery, part fantasy and part revenge story that follows three woman who after going through a change in their lives meet and decide to do something about a body they found on the beach. This was a fun story to read and highly recommend it if you are looking for something outside of the box.

Seven Days In June by Tia Williams – 2 Stars There is something done sometimes in books that will make me immediately dnf a book and this one had it towards the end. I did finish the book and was enjoying it up until that part but overall tis was a no for me. The book follows an author who reunites with a past boyfriend and we alternate between the seven days they spent together in the past and their current meet up. Thank you Grand Central Pub for my gifted copy for review.

Beach House Summer by Sarah Morgan – 4 Stars This was my first Sarah Morgan book and it won’t be my last! This was the perfect vacation read even though I read it at home and it blends romance with contemporary fiction so well! After the death of her celebrity husband Joanna is forced to return to her small coastal California town which she hasn’t been back to in over a decade. I loved the setting, the relationships and the romance in this one! Another great vacation read!

The Woman In The Library by Sulari Gentill – 4 Stars This is a story about a book within a book within a book about a woman writing a book! At first is was confusing but it slowly started to make sense. I really enjoyed the mystery we are following about a woman who was murdered in a public library and the 4 people who bonded over the experience. Thank you LibroFM for my gifted copy for review!

Summerween 2022

Hi friends! I wanted to let everyone know about one of my favorite read-a-thons; Summerween! This is a read-a-thon hosted by Gabby from Gabby Reads and Olivia from Oliviareadsalatte over on youtube. It’s a time to read spooky and thrilling books during the summer months. It takes place July 15th-21st and there are five prompts.

  • Read a book in the dark
  • Read a book with Halloween colors on the cover
  • Read a book with haunt in the title
  • Read a slasher
  • Bake or make a treat with your spooky read

I try not to over extend myself for read-a-thons because it is very easy to do so but I have 3 books I would like to get to this week.

Certain Dark Things by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – I am using this one for Halloween colors on the cover, to me this is black, orange purple or green. This is a paranormal horror set in Mexico City and deals with vampires.

One Of Us Is Lying by Karen M. McManus – this is for the slasher prompt. I am not a huge fan of slashers but I have had this one on my shelf for a couple of years so I thought this was a good time to get to it plus its YA so might be a little easier to get through

The Haunting of Ashburn House by Darcy Coates – This one is for Haunt in the title, I bought it awhile ago and started it but never finished. Hopefully I can finish it this week!

Depending on how my reading is going and what my mood is I have a few other hopefuls I would like to get to during this read-a-thon as well.

The Last To Vanish by Megan Miranda – Out 7/26 but I recieved a #gifted influencer copy from LibroFM and I would like to get to it before pub date. This is a thriller about missing woman in a small town.

What Moves The Dead by T. Kingfisher – Pre-ordered but just not sure when my copy will come in.

The Southern Bookclub’s Guide To Slaying Vampires by Grady Hendrix – Would really love to get to this backlist during this week and if not then at least in July. Pretty sure this is a slasher and has green on the cover.
