December (Maybe) TBR

Hi friends! How is everyone’s November going? Mine is good, we were busy this last week with family and my daughter also had a hockey tournament so that took up a lot of time. I am trying to keep my tbr light so I can mood read if I have time. I feel like December might be busier than normal for me and I might not get in a lot of reading time.

New Releases I would like to Read

  • Well Traveled by Jen Deluca – Book 4 in a romance series that follows different couples.
  • The Last Invitation by Darby Kane – Don’t know anything about this one but I have enjoyed her other books.
  • Drama King by Penny Reid – Book 2 in a romance series, can’t wait for this one!

For Kayla’s Buzzword – This month’s buzzword is a number

  • Secluded Cabin Sleeps Six by Lisa Unger – New thriller release that I didn’t get to last month so I am hoping to get it in December.
  • One Year Gone by Avery Bishop – Thriller I have had on my kindle for a while.
  • The Three Lives of Alix St. Pierre by Natasha Lester – This is an historical fiction arc I have and it comes in early January.

December

  • Terms and Conditions by Lauren Asher – KU romance I want to get too.
  • The Light Pirate by Lily Brooks-Dalton – My last remaining December Arc that comes out 12/6
  • Ms. Demeanor by Elinor Lipman – I have a blog tour for this towards the end of the month so I need to get to it.

Again these are all books that I would like to read soon but I know I probably won’t get to most of these. What are you reading this month? Are you participating in any fun reading challenges?

Let’s Talk Bookish – November 25th

Friday’s are for The Let’s Talk Bookish Meme which is a weekly meme created by Rukky@EternityBooks and is now hosted by Aria @Booknookbits.

Todays topic is: Books That You’re Grateful For.

What are some books that you’re grateful for? What books have had the biggest impact on your life?  How did you discover them?

I really want to take the generic route and say all books! I am so thankful for them all and the joy they bring me and the way that they help me with my mental problems. Books are one of my go to’s to help me get out of a spiral, getting lost in someone else’s story really helps me quiet the noise that goes on up there.

If I had to choose a a book or two the first one that comes to mind is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This might seem cliche I don’t know but I discovered this book in high school and it has lead to a love all things Austen for 20 years! I don’t remember why I picked this book up but if I had to guess it was because I saw the 1995 version with Colin Firth. BTW that is still my favorite adaptation of it.

Another book that comes to mind is Daughter of The Forest by Juliet Marillier. When I was around 17 or 18 I went on a road trip with my boyfriend (now husband) and he was reading Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind and I was reading it over his shoulder. This book lead to reading that entire series as well as The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. While shopping in a Waldens (that should tell you how old I am) I was looking for other fantasy books and I picked up Daughter of The forest and instantly fell in love with it. The writing was different than the other fantasy books I was reading at the time. This book lead to the sequel that is still one of my top 5 books today. This book also lead to me to find many more of my all time favorite fantasy authors and series that I still love to revisit, like Threshold by Sara Douglas.

What are some books that you are grateful for? Let me know in the comments below!

Blog Tour: Two Wrongs Make A Right by Chloe Liese

ABOUT THE BOOK

Opposites become allies to fool their matchmaking friends in this swoony reimagining of Shakespeare’s beloved comedy, Much Ado About Nothing.

Jamie Westenberg and Bea Wilmot have nothing in common except a meet-disaster and the mutual understanding that they couldn’t be more wrong for each other. But when the people closest to them play Cupid and trick them into going on a date, Jamie and Bea realize they have something else in common after all—an undeniable need for revenge.

Soon their plan is in place: Fake date obnoxiously and convince the meddlers they’re madly in love. Then, break up spectacularly and dash their hopes, putting an end to the matchmaking madness once and for all.

To convince everyone that they’ve fallen for each other, Jamie and Bea will have to nail the performance of their lives. But as their final act nears and playing lovers becomes easier than not, they begin to wonder, what if Cupid’s arrow wasn’t so off the mark? And what if two wrongs do make a right?

My Thoughts

Chloe Liese is one of my favorite authors and I will auto-buy any of her books! I was so excited for her first traditionally published novel and while this book while good just didn’t live up to the hype that I gave it in my mind. That being said I still think this is a good book for people to pick up and read, it’s very fun and steamy and the writing is still fantastic. I just personally had trouble liking and rooting for the characters. I did love the tension between Bea and Jamie and the attraction they both fight during their fake romance, you could feel it through the book! I also really liked Bea’s family and I wish we would have got a little more of them and if this turns into a series and we get books for her sisters I will for sure pick them up! Overall while this one was not my favorite book by this author if you enjoy a good fake dating trope than I would give this one a try. Thank you Berkley for my gifted copy for review and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Chloe Liese writes romances reflecting her belief that everyone deserves a love story. Her stories pack a punch of heat, heart, and humor, and often feature characters who are neurodivergent like herself. Hidden Legacy by Ilona Andrews – This one is our world but people can wield different types of magic.

The Psy Changeling series by Nalini Singh – In the late 1900’s the world took a different turn in this series and we follow humans, Psy and Changelings as they learn to live with each other.

Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R. Ward – Vampires!

Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs – All kinds of magic and supernaturals!

Sundays In Bed With…. November 20th

Hello Friends! It’s Sunday and so I thought I would share my “Sundays in Bed With….” a meme dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning.  The meme was originally hosted by Midnight Book Girl but I found over on One Book More’s Blog.

I have been slowly making my way through the Mercy Thompson series and I am really enjoying it! I try to take a break between books so I don’t get burnt out but I just can’t seem to stop! This is book 9 in the series and 13 just came out this year so I should hopefully be caught up soon.

Night Broken by Patricia Briggs

From Goodreads:

Goodreads Choice Award Nominee for Best Fantasy (2014)

An unexpected phone call heralds a new challenge for Mercy. Her mate Adam’s ex-wife is in trouble, on the run from a stalker. Adam isn’t the kind of man to turn away a person in need—and Mercy knows it. But with Christy holed up in Adam’s house, Mercy can’t shake the feeling that something about the situation isn’t right.

Soon her suspicions are confirmed when she learns that Christy has the furthest thing from good intentions. She wants Adam back, and she’s willing to do whatever it takes to get him, including turning Adam’s pack against Mercy.

Mercy isn’t about to step down without a fight, but there’s a more dangerous threat circling. Christy’s stalker is more than a bad man—in fact, he may not be human at all. As the bodies start piling up, Mercy must put her personal troubles aside to face a creature with the power to tear her whole world apart.

What are you reading in bed today?

★★Blurb★★

Stuck with her off-limits, taciturn, hunky movie star client during a sudden snowstorm on Christmas Eve, an extremely capable and highly professional bodyguard must keep him alive and warm without letting the tension building between them get too hot.

Bathsheba (Beth) Ryan can’t thank her best friend enough for helping her land the job of her dreams. After being relegated to second-string security for politicians in DC, being hired as an undercover personal security specialist by a giant Hollywood studio is exactly the kind of action she’s always wanted.

Until she meets her first assignment.

Cyrus Malcom can’t thank his agent enough for arranging a blind date with seemingly the woman of his dreams. After spending the past several years playing all the parts and climbing all the ladders, the lonely mega movie star finds himself actually enjoying a night on the town for the first time in ages when he meets the gorgeous, funny, and genuine Ryaine O’Rourke.

Until she shows up at his studio meeting the next day with a completely different name.

A world-wide press tour and too many late-night parties later, Beth simply needs to get through a short, one-day visit during the Christmas holiday, and then she’ll be free of Cyrus Malcom’s confusing hot looks and cold shoulders for good.

But just as they leave the airport, it starts to snow . . .

‘Drama King’ is the second book in the Three Kings Series, is a full-length, contemporary romantic comedy, and can be read as a complete standalone.
