Friday’s are for The Let’s Talk Bookish Meme which is a weekly meme created by Rukky@EternityBooks and is now hosted by Aria @Booknookbits.
Todays topic is: Books That You’re Grateful For.
What are some books that you’re grateful for? What books have had the biggest impact on your life? How did you discover them?
I really want to take the generic route and say all books! I am so thankful for them all and the joy they bring me and the way that they help me with my mental problems. Books are one of my go to’s to help me get out of a spiral, getting lost in someone else’s story really helps me quiet the noise that goes on up there.
If I had to choose a a book or two the first one that comes to mind is Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen. This might seem cliche I don’t know but I discovered this book in high school and it has lead to a love all things Austen for 20 years! I don’t remember why I picked this book up but if I had to guess it was because I saw the 1995 version with Colin Firth. BTW that is still my favorite adaptation of it.

Another book that comes to mind is Daughter of The Forest by Juliet Marillier. When I was around 17 or 18 I went on a road trip with my boyfriend (now husband) and he was reading Wizard’s First Rule by Terry Goodkind and I was reading it over his shoulder. This book lead to reading that entire series as well as The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan. While shopping in a Waldens (that should tell you how old I am) I was looking for other fantasy books and I picked up Daughter of The forest and instantly fell in love with it. The writing was different than the other fantasy books I was reading at the time. This book lead to the sequel that is still one of my top 5 books today. This book also lead to me to find many more of my all time favorite fantasy authors and series that I still love to revisit, like Threshold by Sara Douglas.
