Hello Friends! Here is my second round up for August and I read some pretty good books!

In The Shadow Garden by Liz Parker – 5 Stars I’m not sure where to begin with this one except to say that I loved it! I love stories that have a little speculative magic in them and this one really fit the mood that I was in. This story follows three generations of Haywood family who tend to the town’s shadow garden where its produce can help cure different ailments. It also supplies some of the ingredients for the town’s locally made bourbon which if drank on a certain day of the year can erase your worst memory and 20 years ago an entire summer was forgot by everyone in the town. Now the secrets are finally starting to be revealed and the people of the town may not ever be the same. I loved this story of family and friendships, it was filled with so much love. If you enjoy light magic in your contemporary reads about family than I would highly recommend this one! Thank you Forever Publishing for my gifted copy for review! All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Things You Save In A Fire by Katherine Center – 4 Stars – ReRead I kept seeing some friends on Instagram reading this one so I decided to pick it up again. I love Rookie and this book might get better with every read.
The Captain and Miss Winter by Sally Britton – 3 Stars This historical romance which was also a retelling of Snow White and Rose Red and I thought it was just ok. It is a short story but I just felt like it was very rushed and never connected with the characters.
Storm Echo by Nalini Singh – 4 Stars This is still one of my favorite series and while I really enjoyed this one it wasn’t a new favorite. We have a Psy and Changeling in this one which are my favorite pairings! It reminded me so much of Ivy and Vasic’s story from Shield of Winter but just not as lovable which is why I think it didn’t quite hit the hit spot. Still great story and love seeing the world progress.
Riley Thorn and The Dead Guy Next Door by Lucy Score – 5 Stars After having this one one my shelf for almost 2 years I am so happy I finally got to it! Now I just need to read the next two in the series. This follows Riley who has been suppressing her psychic gifts her entire life until she sees the murder of her neighbor. With the help of her elderly roommates as well as a good looking PI, Riley learns to develop her gifts to help catch a murderer. If you are a fan of the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich than I think you will like this one. It reminded a lot of that series with it’s funny side characters and goofy shenanigans.
