Reading Round Up – October 11th – 20th

Happy Monday Friends! I am here again with some more short reviews on what I have been reading. Have you read any of these books? If so let me know your thoughts below in the comments! My favorites were We Are The Brennans and A Dark and Secret Place.

We Are The Brennans by Tracey Lange – 4.5 Stars Family drama about a woman who returns home to help her family after leaving everyone she loves with no explanation. Really enjoyed this one and can’t wait to read more from her in the future!! Thank you Celadon for my #gifted copy.

A Dark and Secret Place by Jen Williams – 4 Stars Really enjoyed this dark thriller about a serial killer and his connections to a grieving woman who just lost her mother. I would check content warnings for this one as it did have some graphic scenes and descriptions. It looks like this author used to write fantasy and I am interested in trying out one of those.

On Location by Sarah Smith – 3.5 Stars Cute romance about a woman who is the producer of a travel show.  It did get a little repetitive with having the same conflict happened at least 3 times but still a fun read. Loved all the descriptions of the Utah Parks.

Final Girls Support Group by Grady Hendrix – 1 Stars Found this one to be too long and very boring, was not invested in any of the characters. I actually ended up skimming the last hundred or so pages to get to the end of the book. I probably should have dnf’d but didn’t. I think this one was just a me problem and that maybe slasher horror is not for me. I am still going to try some of his other books though!

Heartstopper Vol 2 by Alice Oseman – 4 Stars Another cute installment in the love story between Nick and Charlie!

Not Your Average Hot Guy by Gwenda Bond – 3.5 Stars Romance between a woman who is struggling with life and the son of the devil.  A fun read and if it turns into a series I will pick up the next one because I would like to see where the story goes from here.  Thank you St. Martins Press for my #gifted copy.

Rock, Paper, Scissors by Alice Feeney – 4 Stars An isolated thriller that takes place in a remote chapel in Scotland during a snow storm. A husband and wife decide to take one last trip to try and save their marriage but things do not go as planned. This one kept me guessing and the ending left me with questions!!
