Reading Round Up: October 21st-31st

Hello Friends! I am pretty late getting my last round up posted. I seem to have lost some of my mojo for writing reviews and have been struggling with what to say in them. Here are the last 7 books I read in October.

Naked in Death by J.D. Robb – 4 Stars I picked up her first book Naked in Death last month after it had been sitting on my shelves forever and really enjoyed it! I was pleasantly surprised that it took place in the future! I always love a good cop procedural and throw in a romance and I am sold.

Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia – 4 Stars This was one of my favorite thrillers I have read so far this year, I loved her world building and the way she wrote. I know her older books are different genres but I am excited to read Gods of Jade and Shadow. I love when books teach me knew things in history and I want to start researching them right away and Silvia’s writing made me want to know more about a time and place in history that I was unfamiliar with.

In a Badger Way by Shelly Laurenston – 4 Stars Book 2 and this one deals with Stevie who is a Honey badger and Tiger mix and suffers from anxiety. Also the main guy in this is a Panda shifter!! The Honey Badger Chronicles is my absolute favorite series from Shelly Laurenston.

Badger to the Bone by Shelly Laurenston – 5 Stars This is the third book and we finally get Max’s story, she is my favorite of the three sisters. I talk about these books a lot so Im pretty sure most of you know my thoughts.

Mistletoe and Mr. Right by Sarah Morgenthaler – 4 Stars This is the follow up to The Tourist Trap which I read earlier this year and absolutely adored, so I was pretty excited to read this and return to Moose Springs, Alaska. We have Lana who works for a company that recently bought a lot of the businesses in town and is trying to find a way to help them out but the town wants nothing to do with her. We are also following Rick who owns a small bar and is one of the businesses in need of help. Overall I really enjoyed this one, I loved seeing a softer side of Lana who wasn’t my favorite character in the first one. Lana really loves the town and just wanted everyone to be successful there. I wasn’t a huge fan of the santa moose plot line that seemed to take up a lot of this book, the ending for this was a bit of a let down for me. I still really love the writing and the town and the characters and can not wait to read the third book in the series! Thank you to netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for my complimentary copy for my honest review.

Justified by Jay Crownover – 4 Stars I have had this book sitting on my kindle forever but just never felt the need to pick it up read it, I’m not sure why as I loved a lot of her earlier contemporaries. I decided to go ahead and pick it because I saw a bunch of my friends on instagram reviewing the newest book in the series. I’m glad I finally got around to it as I really enjoyed it and the town that the series takes place in. I love a good enemies to lovers and throw in cop and I am here for it!! Can’t wait to read the next book.

Little Lies by H. Hunting – 4 Stars – Review to come later.
