Sundays In Bed With…. November 20th

Hello Friends! It’s Sunday and so I thought I would share my “Sundays in Bed With….” a meme dares to ask what book has been in your bed this morning.  The meme was originally hosted by Midnight Book Girl but I found over on One Book More’s Blog.

Hi Friends! It has been a few days since my last post but I started a new job last week and I am still trying get a hang of balancing everything out. I started this book at the beginning of the week because of a buddy read I was doing with some friends on Instagram. I had decided after reading book 3 that I was done with this series but when friends are reading then I will too. I don’t think I will dislike this one as much as the last book I read in this series but it’s not a new favorite either. I will say that I will probably go ahead and pick up the last one I have unread in the next month or too.

A Very Merry Bromance by Lyssa Kay Adams

368 Pages

Published 11/1/2022

From Goodreads:

‘Tis the season for a Bromance Book Club matchmaking mission! This time, they’re pulling out the mistletoe for everyone’s favorite country music star, Colton, and his second chance at love.

Country music’s golden boy Colton Wheeler felt the most perfect harmony when he was with Gretchen Winthrop. But for her, it was a love him and leave him situation. A year later, Colton is struggling to push his music forward in a new direction. If it weren’t about to be the most magical time of year and the support of the Bromance Book Club, he’d be wallowing in self-pity.

It’s hard for immigration attorney Gretchen not to feel a little Scrooge-ish about the excess of Christmas when her clients are scrambling to afford their rent. So when her estranged, wealthy family reaches out with an offer that will allow her to better serve the community, she’s unable to say no. She just needs to convince Colton to be the new face of her family’s whiskey brand. No big deal…

Colton agrees to consider Gretchen’s offer in exchange for three dates before Christmas. With the help of the Bromance Book Club, Colton throws himself into the task of proving to her there’s a spark between them. But Gretchen and Colton will both need to overcome the ghosts of Christmas past to build a future together.

Reading Round Up: November Part 3

Hi Friends! Sorry I am so late with my round ups for November, I just wasn’t in the space to write reviews so unfortunately these may be pretty quick reviews. Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

A Fire Endless by Rebecca Ross – 4 Stars This is the follow up to A River Enchanted which I read at the beginning of the year. This one picks up right where we left in book one so it should really be read in order so that the story makes sense. I don’t want to say a lot about this one incase you haven’t read book one. This is a fantasy story that follows the inhabitants of The Isle of Cadence as they war between the East and West but now Bane the Spirit of the North Wind wants to control everything and the two sides might finally have to put their differences aside to beat Bane. I really enjoyed both book 1 and 2 of this series. The writing and story reminded me of Juliet Marillier who is my favorite fantasy author, both authors have a way of drawing you into their worlds and becoming invested in the characters. Whether you are new to fantasy or a fan of it I think this would be a good duology to pick up. Thank you Harper Voyager for my gifted copy for review, all thoughts and opinions are my own. This one comes out December 6th, 2022.

Heartless by Elsie Silver – 4 Stars I picked this one up on a whim after seeing one of my favorite youtubers review it. This is a small town and age gap romance that follows Willa and single dad Cade. Willa has the summer off as her normal job is going under renovations so as a favor to her best friend she decides to nanny for a single dad who is also running his family ranch. This was a fun and steamy romance and I really enjoyed it. Highly recommend if you love a grump/sunshine, age gap or small town romance.

The Vicious Circle by Katherine St. John – 4 Stars I have enjoyed this author’s two previous works and was excited to pick up her newest thriller. I still think I prefer last years release but this one was still an engaging thriller. It follows Sveta as she travels to the jungles of Mexico to her recently deceased uncle’s retreat called Xanadu. Here she discovers that not all as it seems and she must figure out who she can trust if she wants to leave the jungle alive. I thought this one was fun and while I could see where things were going I was surprised with a couple reveals.

Frost Burned by Patricia Briggs – 4 Stars Book 7 in the Mercy Thompson series and this one follows Mercy as she tries to rescue Adam and the pack from a government organization that wants to get rid of the werewolves. I am still really enjoying this series and hope to keep up with it next month as well.

Night Broken by Patricia Briggs – 4 Stars Book 8 in the Mercy Thompson series and we follow Mercy as she and Adam have to find out who is threatening Adam’s ex-wife. Mercy also has to try and deal with having Adam’s ex back in their house as she tries to reassert her dominance over Mercy and the pack.

Let’s Talk Bookish – December 2nd

Friday’s are for The Let’s Talk Bookish Meme which is a weekly meme created by Rukky@EternityBooks and is now hosted by Aria @Booknookbits.

Todays topic is: Can You Predict Someone’s Genre of Choice? (Fives @ Down the Rabbit Hole)

The short answer is no I can not predict anyones genre of choice.

What is your favorite genre and why? I would say right now my favorite genre is tied between romance and thrillers. I really love both and it just depends on my mood for what I will pick up.

Is there a reason why those particular genres speak to you or capture your interest? I like the feelings they both get from me.

What is your least favorite genre and why? Literary Fiction, for whatever reason I just can’t get into it.

Is the genre the biggest determination of whether you look for and choose a book, or is it something else? Genre is usually the first thing I go for when picking up a book but if the plot sounds interesting enough I will pick up something outside my usual genre.

Do you find that you are able to predict what kind of genres people like based on their personalities? Nope!

Do you notice patterns in which kinds of people like certain genres? No, reading is such a unique experience that I don’t really see any kind of patterns.

What are some books that you are grateful for? Let me know in the comments below!

Top 5 Tuesday: November 29th 2022

Top 5 Tuesday is a weekly meme created by Shanah @the Bionic Bookworm and is now being hosted by Meeghan @Meeghan Reads. This week’s topic is Top 5 books I will definitely* read in 2022.

This was my Top 5 from January 18th 2022 where I said 5 books that I definitely would read in 2022 and I thought it would be fun to revisit it. I am happy to say that I have read all 5 of these books and three of them were 5 stars!

1. Book Lovers by Emily Henry out May 3rd – I really enjoyed her first adult novel and her second was not for me but I am excited to read this one. This one was a 3.5 for me and I rounded up to a 4 stars, while I have enjoyed Emily Henry’s books I have not really loved any of them.

2. The Bodyguard by Katherine Center out July 19th – Katherine Center is an auto buy author and I can not wait for this one!!! This one was a 5 Stars for me and I loved it so much! Katherine Center has become one of my favorite authors and I love all her books that I have read so far. I really liked that this one was more romance centered than some of her other books.

3. The Wedding Crasher by Mia Sosa out April 5th – After absolutely loving Worst Best Man I have been waiting for her next book. This was a 4 Star for me and while I loved Worst Best Man this one just didn’t live it up t the hype that I gave it in my head.

4. Running Wild by K.A. Tucker out January 18th – Im so excited for this one!!! Loved it! Easily 5 Stars, this series is so good and I loved finally getting Marie’s story.

5. A Hard Day for a Hangover by Darynda Jones out December 6th – I am loving the Sunshine Vicram series and waiting over a year is so hard! Also loved this one and gave it 5 Stars! I really hope we get more in this series but I can see this one being a conclusion with the way the story wrapped up. This one comes out next week and I highly recommend this series!!!
