Reading Round Up: January Part 2

Hi Friends! Here is my last round up for the month. I read 4 more books and while I really enjoyed my romances, thrillers really flopped for me this month none were really big standouts. I have some more on my tbr for February so hopefully they go better.

Just The Nicest Couple by Mary Kubica – 3 Stars After loving Local Woman Missing last year, I had high hopes for Just The Nicest Couple and while I enjoyed it it is not a new favorite. This story follows 3 couples who are all staying in a cabin in the mountains but things are not what they appear to be. We get chapters from all three of the people in the couples plus flashbacks to someone we don’t know as well as the creepy owner of the cabin. I liked the story and the writing for this but with all the different points of view it made it difficult to follow at times. Overall this one was just ok and I am excited to see what Mary Kubica comes out with next. Thank you Harper Collins and Edelweiss for my gifted copy for review.

All The Dangerous Things by Stacey Willingham – 2.5 Stars Im not sure what it was about this book that I didn’t like but just like this author’s debut I felt it was pretty boring. I will say I listened to the first half and then read the second half and that went a lot better. This book follows a woman who is trying to find her son after he went missing the year before. This book has an unreliable narrator and podcast element so if you like those then I would check them out.

Ship Wrecked by Olivia Dade – 4 Stars This is the third book in a series that follows actors on a tv show that is about Greek Gods. This story follows Maria and Peter who have a one night stand and then find out they are both cast on the same show. Six years later the show is over and we see them start a relationship. Loved this one, it could be my favorite of the three books but I would need to go back and read Spoiler Alert to see which one is better. Thank you Avon for my gifted copy!

The Backup Plan by Jill Shalvis – 4 Stars Thank you so much Avon and Bibliolifestyle PR for my gifted copy of this book! I have been a fan of Jill Shalvis’s for awhile now and just love picking ip her books whenever I need to get out of a reading slump! Her books are always so heartwarming and are like a hug on a cold day!! This was a fun second chance friendship story as well as new relationship when 3 people must work together to restore an old Inn. Highly recommend if you are wanting a cozy read on these frigid days we are having! It is currently 9 degrees here in Golden!

February (Maybe) TBR

Hi Friends! How is your week going? It’s super cold her in Colorado and I am looking forward to warmer weather when we go on vacation in a couple of weeks! Since my reading has slowed down so much I am trying to keep my TBR’s to a more manageable level. It helps that I only have one February ARC but I do still have some older ones that I still need to get too. What are you hoping to read this month?

February Arc’s To Read

  • The Last Tale of the Flower Bride by Roshani Chokshi – 2/14

For Kayla’s Buzzword – This month’s buzzword is verbs.

  • Conquer The Kingdom by Jennifer Estep – March ARC I would like to get to
  • Finlay Donovan Jumps The Gun by Elle Cosimano – Book 3 in the Finlay series!

Other Reads

  • Age Of Vice by Deepti Kapoor – This is an instagram bookclub pick so if I can’t squeeze it in thats ok by me.
  • Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo – Really would like to get to this month this month
  • Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman – My only for sure vacation book I know I am bringing!
  • Well Traveled by Jen Deluca – Might take this one on vacation with me, we will see.

Again these are all books that I would like to read soon but I know I probably won’t get to most of these. What are you reading this month? Are you participating in any fun reading challenges?
