Reading Round Up: March Part 2

Hi Friends! How was everyone’s week? Mine was good overall, it was my kids spring break so I only worked a few days and we tried to do some fun things with them. I have also been getting some good reading done and getting through some of my ARC’s! I really love how these three covers look together!

Hotel of Secrets by Diana Biller – 3 Stars I picked up this book because I had heard good things about this author and while I enjoyed the writing this book wasn’t quite what I had expected. I thought this book was going to be more historical fiction and less historical romance. This story follows a woman who is the manager of a hotel and a US agent who has come to her hotel for an investigation. This book was silly and straight to the romance within the first handful of pages and while the book was funny and steamy, it just took me by surprise. I enjoyed this one and will probably pick up this author again but will keep my expectations low. Thank you St.Martin’s Press for my gifted copy.

Stone Blind by Natalie Haynes – 3.5 Stars After reading Natalie Haynes non-fiction book last month I was excited to try and read one of her fiction works. This one is a retelling of Medusa and Perseus’s story but with a different take on it. While at times I felt it was a little slow I did overall enjoy this one and can’t wait to read more from her. I really liked this take on Medusa and how she came to be misunderstood. If you are a fan of Greek retelling I would highly recommend this one and the audio is fantastic! I love Natalie Haynes reading voice and wished she narrated more books beside her own. Thank you Harper Collins and Edelweiss for my gifted copy for review!

Conquer The Kingdom by Jennifer Estep – 3 Stars I recently finished Conquer The Kingdom which is book 3 in a fantasy series! We are still following Gemma in this one as she tries to save her kingdom. I was glad to be back with these characters, they are so fun to read about. I did think the pacing was a bit slow and it took awhile for me to get invested in what was going on and it really didn’t pick up until the last quarter. In some ways this felt like an end to the series but I hope that it’s going to have a spinoff because there are a few side characters I want more of! Overall I would recommend this series as a whole and can’t wait to see whats next. Thank you Avon and Harper Voyager for my gifted copy for review.
