Hello Friends! I am finally here with my last round up for August! I read 8 books and DNF’d one and overall they were pretty good books. I think my favorite would be either Forever Thrown or When Sparks Fly and my least favorite was Hairpin Bridge. How did your reading go last month?

The House On Sunshine Corner by Phoebe Mills – 4 Stars The House On Sunshine Corner was such a cute second chance romance. This is not usually my favorite trope but this book drew me in and I read it in about 2 days! This story follows Abby and Carter who were highschool sweethearts but broke up when they went to college. Years later Carter is back to help out his family after an accident and Abby runs the local daycare. The chemistry between him and Abby is still hot and sparks fly! I really enjoyed all the side characters in this one too and can’t wait to read more in this series. Thank you Forever Publishing for my gifted copy for review!!

Uncharted by Adriana Anders – 3.5 Stars This book picks up pretty much where Whiteout ends and we are following Leo who is staying up in Alaska with her team as they are trying to find a man who they think can help them with their mission. Leo ends up helping Elias who was once one of America’s top criminals and together the two must survive in the wilds of Alaska while also being hunted. I really like these romantic suspense books as all the intense situations help with the insta attraction that always comes. I will also say that this one was more believable then the first which took place in Antartica. I also just love books set in Alaska, the land is always a character as well and I love that. We also get a glimpse of the couple from the first book and I always enjoy seeming past couples in books. Overall this is a fun romantic suspense book, if you also like Alaska then I would recommend picking this one up. Thank you Sourcebooks Casablanca and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.

Hairpin Bridge by Taylor Adams – 1.5 Stars I went into this book with such high hopes because I had heard great things about the author’s first book but this one just didn’t work for me. I listened on audio while also reading my ebook and the narrator’s at times just didn’t make sense to me. We are following two timelines in this book. The first is in present day and we are following Lena who is trying to figure out what really happened to her sister Cambry 4 months ago. We are also getting the last few hours of what Cambry experienced before she died. Im not really sure what didn’t work for me with this one other than everything. I was underwhelemed by the story and the characters, there was a twist towards the end that surprised me but overall just not for me. Thank you Joffe Books and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.

When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting – 4 Stars I love Helena Hunting’s books so much!! I will pretty much read anything from her and set a book by her in Colorado and have hobby horse tournaments and you know it’s going to be good! She writes some hilarious scenes that take place at her main character’s event center. In this book we are following Avery who is happy running the event center with her sisters and living with her best friend Declan. When Declan ditches Avery and she is forced to drive in the rain she gets into an accident and is seriously injured. Declan feeling horribly guilty about the situation plus scaring him at the thought of losing her, he decides that he will be the one to take care of her. This was a cute and steamy story about two friends who are both hiding their feelings from one another as they learn that there might be more between them. I really hope we get more stories following her sisters, they were a lot of fun to read about. Thank you St. Martin’s Press and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.

Forever Thrown by Kathleen Brooks – 4 Stars This series is one of my favorites, I talk about it every few months because Kathleen Brooks is so fast at getting these books out. This series is now the third I think for the town of Keeneston KY and we have been following the kids from the original series. Forever Thrown is number 16 and is following Porter Davies who just retired as a Pro Rodeo bull rider. Porter is tasked with finding out out if Willa Alderidge is a traitor to the government or not. What ensues is the typical high paced shenanigans that always seem to follow the families of Keeneston. If you want a hilarious contemporary/suspense romance then I recommend picking up any books in this series or the ones before, Bluegrass or Bluegrass Brothers which is about the original couples from Keeneston.

Never Saw You Coming by Erin Hahn – 4 Stars This one in some ways is hard to rate because of the subject matter. While overall I enjoyed the story I feel like there should be a note in the front of this about the heavily religious aspect of the book. Christianity and faith is the center of this book and the struggle that kids go through. We are following two characters in this book and the first is Meg who was raised in a very conservative house finds out that she was a product of a teen pregnancy and the man she thought was her dad is not. The second person we are following is Micah who is a former pastor’s kid and his dad is now in prison. Meg and Micah’s story was one I could identify with on so many levels as I also grew up in a conservative and religious household. I really enjoyed this one and the growth that both Meg and Micah went through was great to read. Thank you Wednesday Books and Netgalley for my gifted copy.

The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams – 4 Stars In some ways this book reminded me of When Sparks Fly by Helena Hunting. You have two people who have been friends forever and both are hiding feelings from each other. However, this one is set in the sports world! In real life I am not a sports fan at all, I go out of my way to not watch sports but I LOVE sports romances! Bree is a ballet instructor who is best friends with football superstar Nathan! I loved their friends to lovers relationship. They were both such sweet characters. I also loved Nathan’s team mates and I really hope we get their stories sometime too!

Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon – 3 Stars I have heard so many people talk about this series so I decided to give it a try. While it wasn’t my favorite book it was a fun time. This book follows Georgie who is abducted by Aliens and then left stranded on a planet with a few other woman. While searching for help Georgie meets Vektal who instantly takes a liking to her. If you ever wanted a relationship between a human and an Alien then I recommend this one! There are trigger warnings for this book so I would look into those before reading.

Hostage by Clare Mackintosh – DNF I don’t have much to say about this one other than it was slow and I was confused and not interested. I might try this one again not on audio sometime in the future.
