Friday’s are for The Let’s Talk Bookish Meme which is a weekly meme created and hosted by Rukky@EternityBooks and Dani@Literary Lion and todays topic is: PROLOGUES AND EPILOGUES: ARE THEY NECESSARY? (SUGGESTED BY FIVES @ DOWN THE RABBIT HOLE)
What’s the difference between having something as a prologue vs. a chapter 1? I feel like a prologue can be used to give you information that is crucial to the plot but might not involve the main characters. Or if the book is about an event in the past then its a way to show that without starting the story there and then moving forward.
Is it too much to have both a prologue and epilogue? Nope!
Do you think epilogues have more value because they might tie up loose ends? For me thats what I like. I like knowing how things end, I am not a fan of endings that leave you wanting more.
Do prologues have more value because they can set the scene? I don’t think so.
Do you prefer having neither? I prefer epilogues but can really take or leave them.
Do you like prologues and epilogues?
Thanks for participating this week, Becky! For me, I also often like loose ends tied up nicely. Too many of them just leaves me wanting way too much for me to be satisfied with the book. Nice post!

I love wholesome epilogues that leave me a teary mess! And I love prologues that really tickle my interest and make me zoom through the first ten chapters!
