Hi Friends! I am here with a huge round up for the first part of May, I read 10 books! One was an audio that I listened to for over a week and then two of the books I started at the end of April. My favorites are probably The Last Train To Key West and Everything For You while All Fired Up was my least favorite. What have you been reading in May so far? Any new favorites? Let me know in the comments below!
Maggie Moves On by – 4 Stars This was my first book by Lucy Score and now I can’t wait to go and read her backlist! This one follows Maggie who has a youtube channel were she buys fixer uppers and then documents the entire remodel. Maggie’s newest purchase is in Kinship Idaho and it is a historic crumbling mansion and a property this size needs a great landscaper and in enters constantly flirting Silas. I loved Silas and Maggie’s relationship from the beginning, Maggie knows she isn’t staying long term but Silas is going to do everything he can to convince her to stay. Along the way Maggie not only starts to open herself up to Silas but she also makes friends and tries to help out a boy who is basically abandoned by his family by giving him a job with her crew but also fixing up a room for him in the house so he has somewhere to sleep at night! By the time it’s time for her to leave she has made so many new connections and even started to rebuild one with her own sister. I loved all the relationships in this book, it gave me so many feels and I didn’t want it to end. I highly recommend checking this one out when it is released June 21st of this year! Thank you so much Forever for my gifted copy for review!!!
The Favor by – 3 Stars The tag line for this book reads Staying is dangerous. Leaving could be worse and I feel like this does a good job of setting up your expectations for this book. In The Favor we follow two different points of view, the first is Leah who no longer works and drinks all day and the second is McKenna who also finds herself currently unemployed but still trying to figure out what her new normal is. Leah and McKenna have never met but both recognize something in each other at a chance meeting that will change their lives forever. I can’t say a lot about this book because it is a fast read and anything I say could be spoiler. I really enjoyed this thriller, it was fast paced and I kept wanting to keep reading to see where everything went. I will say that if you read a lot of domestic thrillers than this plot is not a new one but the author’s writing style kept me very engaged and I can’t wait to see what they put out next. Thank you Minotaur and St. Martin’s Press for my gifted copy for review.
All Fired Up by Dylan Newton – 3 Stars I’m not sure where to start with this book. After loving Dylan’s debut novel; How Sweet It Is, I was so excited to read this one but it did not live up to the first one for me. We follow Zander who runs a pottery studio in upstate New York and Imani who is a a book publicist. The two spend a fun weekend together at a wedding but then Imani ghosts Zander who thought this might be something long term. When Imani comes back to town to help out her grandmother for the summer, Zander makes it his mission to see if their chemistry is real. Overall this book was just ok, I felt like the entire book was one big romance cliche and I knew what was going to happen next. I also don’t like the trope of one character thinking the other is a player because of rumors they heard and don’t listen when said person says they are not! This trope just really frustrates me. My favorite parts were Imani’s grandmother and seeing Kate and Drake together again! Im hoping this reading experience was just a me thing and will pick up the author’s next book because while the plot wasn’t for me I still really enjoyed her writing style. Thank you Forever for my gifted copy for review!
Starry-Eyed Love by Helena Hunting – 4 Stars This is the second book in the Spark House series where we follow three sisters who run a hotel and event center in Colorado. In Starry-Eyed Love we are following the second sister London who after a recent break up decides to stop dating for awhile but of course this plan goes out the window when she meets Jackson who is the CEO of the company they will now be working with. This book was a lot of fun like all of Helena Hunting’s books. There is comedy but mixed in some heavier topics that don’t make me feel too overwhelmed while reading. I really liked how Jackson got to know London by taking her on work outings while showing her it’s ok to have a life outside of her sisters. Also any book set in Colorado is usually fun for me as I love where I live and enjoy when other people love it here too. Overall I really enjoyed this book but the ending was very predictable to me and so I kind of lost my mojo while reading it. Still highly recommend it and if you have read her Shaking Up series a few of the couples from those books make cameos in this one! Thank you St. Martins Press and Social Butterfly PR for my gifted copy for review!
The Last Train to Key West by Chanel Cleeton – 5 Stars I’m pretty sure every time I pick up a new Chanel Cleeton I say that it is my favorite of hers. This time I can say pretty confidently that it is my favorite! I loved the setting and the characters of this one so much! We follow three different woman in the Florida Keys during the Labor Day weekend in 1935 which was when one of the worst hurricanes hit in the Atlantic. We have Mirta who is on her honeymoon and knows noting about her new husband Anthony. Elizabeth who is from New York City is down there looking for someone in the Army camps and then there is Helen who has lived there her entire life and wants nothing more than to get away. Also the first line in this is one of my favorites: I’ve Imagined my husbands death a thousand times. It’s so good!!! One of my favorite things about reading historical fiction is the fact that I learn something new from history and then go down rabbit holes to find out whatever I can and this one did not disappoint. I had never heard of this hurricane or the Bonus Army that was left over from WWI and were sent down to The Keys to help build the railway that connected the islands to Florida. Highly recommend any books by this author but this one is so good!
Book Lovers by Emily Henry – 4 Stars Rounded up to a 4, this one started out pretty strong for me but by the end I was left a little unsatisfied. We follow a book agent named Nora and an editor named Charlie, the two get off to rocky start but the two end up in the same small town over the summer and realize maybe they have more in common than they thought. One of my biggest complaints with this book was Nora’s need to control everything in her sister’s life to make sure se was happy. Her sister is almost 30 married and his2 children with a third on the way so Nora’s need to make her happy never made sense to me. Overall I really enjoyed this book and it might be my favorite by Emily Henry so far (need to do a re-read of Beach Read to make sure). If you are looking for a fun easy summer beach read than I would recommend checking this one out.
Our Last Days in Barcelona by Chanel Cleeton – 4 Stars I have a blog tour for this one closer to release date which is 5/24. However, I can let you know that I really enjoyed this on as I have Chanel Cleeton’s previous books following the women in the Perez family from Cuba. I highly recommend if you are looking for a historical fiction set in a different place and time. Thank you Berkley for my gifted copy for review!
Beauty and The Mustache by Penny Reid – Stars This was a re-read that I did for a buddy read and it is still one of my favorite books! I love the story of Ashley and Drew and I love getting to meet all the Winston Brothers for the first time! This book is on the sad side and I cried my eyes out even knowing what was going to happen. TW for cancer and death of loved one.
Everything For You by Chloe Liese – 5 Stars This book was one of my most anticipated books of the year because I just adore all of the books in The Bergman series. We are following the second youngest of seven siblings in this one, Oliver is a professional soccer player for the LA Galaxy and he starts to develop feelings for his co-captain Gavin. This book is very much sunshine grump but even the sunshine has some darkness to him and I loved it. Chloe even goes to showcase this with how they each dress! I also heard this was kind of inspired by Ted Lasso and I can totally see the inspiration for both characters, so if you love Roy Kent then you might just love Gavin like I did!!!!! This book also gave me Kulti vibes and I was here for that too! I also loved the fact that we got Bergman weddings and babies an I love seeing how past couples are continuing to grow in their relationships! I can not recommend this book or series enough! TW for mental health and on page panic attacks.
The Hacienda by Isabel Canas – 4 Stars This book is described as Rebecca meets Mexican Gothic and that is a pretty accurate description. For me it leans more on the Rebecca side in that we get a young wife moving to her new husbands Hacienda and there is a mystery of what happened to his first wife. The Hacienda is a sentient being and takes on the emotions of those who have lived there and something has made it turn malevolent. This book wasn’t as creepy feeling as Mexican Gothic was but I understand the comparison. I really enjoyed this story and I am sucker for a hunted house or sentient like house, highly recommend if you are looking for a historical paranormal fiction with just a hint of creepy.
This should come at no surprise but I didn’t get this week’s Top 5 Tuesday up on Tuesday! So here we are again on a Friday with it, I hope you enjoy and don’t forget to tell me your beverage of choice while reading in the comments below!
If you know me at all then there is only one real answer for this question and that is Pepsi! I am somewhat addicted to this as it is my favorite drink ever. I have recently cut back on it a lot and writing this post makes me want one!

“Hunting puts her own sexy spin on the classic fairy-tale” – Booklist
Starry-Eyed Love, an all-new laugh out loud romantic comedy with off the charts chemistry and all the feels from New York Times bestselling author Helena Hunting, is available now!
Charming, hilarious, and emotional, Starry-Eyed Love is Helena Hunting at her very best!
Having just broken up with her boyfriend, London Spark is not in the mood to be hit on. Especially not when she’s out celebrating her single status with her sisters. So when a very attractive man pays for their drinks and then slips her his number, she passes it right back to him with a ‘thanks, but no thanks’. As the business administrator for their family’s event hotel, the Spark House, London has more important things to worry about, like bringing in new clientele.
As luck would have it, a multi-million-dollar company calls a few months later asking for a meeting to discuss a potential partnership, and London is eager to prove to her sisters, and herself, that she can land this deal. Just when she thinks she has nailed her presentation, the company’s CEO, Jackson Holt, walks in and inserts himself into the meeting. Not only that, but he also happens to be the same guy she turned down at the bar a few months ago.
As they begin to spend more time together, their working relationship blossoms into something more. It isn’t until their professional entanglements are finally over, that London and Jackson are finally ready to take the next step in their relationship. But between Jackson’s secretive past and London’s struggle with her sisters, London must question where she really stands – not just with Jackson, but with the Spark House, too.
My Thoughts

My stomach does a flip-flop as our server moves on to another table and the hot guy slides across the bench seat and rises. He’s tall, must be over six feet, and lean. Broad shoulders that taper down to a narrow waist. I glance at his feet and notice his scuffed running shoes.
He rolls his shoulders back and crosses over to our table. He nods to my sisters, but doesn’t really look at them, his eyes on me. Now that he’s right in front of me, I notice they’re a deep mossy-green color, reminding me of a Colorado forest. “Hi.” A slow smile forms as his gaze moves over my face.
I feel it like a gentle caress and heat travels through my veins. It’s an unexpected reaction, so my own “hi” comes out rather breathily. “Thank you for the drinks and the food. You really didn’t need to do that.”
His grin widens, showing off perfectly straight, white teeth. “Well, I wanted to make a good impression, and have an excuse to come over and talk to you.”
Harley squeezes my leg under the table. I don’t risk looking at her because I’m sure she’s smiling like a loon.
“You certainly did that. Make a good impression, I mean.” Why am I so awkward right now? And why does it feel like this man is sucking all the oxygen out of the room and turning my brain cells into mush?
That gets me another smile. “I wanted to apologize if it seemed like I was staring. I hope I haven’t made you uncomfortable.”
I touch my fingers to my lips and resist the urge to play with my hair, but just barely. Why does this man make me feel like a starry-eyed high school girl? “You haven’t made me uncomfortable.”
“Good. That’s very good.” His tongue drags across his bottom lip. “I just needed to tell you that from across the room, you were beyond stunning, but up close.” He lets out a low whistle. “You are an absolute work of art.”
I fight with my eyebrows not to rise. This guy has all the lines. “Oh, really?” I lace my fingers together and set my chin on them. “The kind of art you might hang in your living room?”
“Bedroom, actually.”
I laugh. I can’t decide if this guy is too smooth for his own good. Or mine. I have to wonder how many times he’s dropped these lines on other women and they’ve ended up in his bed as a result.
“That sound is music to my ears,” he says, his white-toothed smile still in place. “I knew I’d be kicking myself if I didn’t come over here and at least say hello.” He slides a small piece of paper across the table, roughly the size of a business card. “I’m going to leave my number, and maybe if you’re interested, I can take you out for a drink, or dinner, or a hot air balloon ride.”
I can see exactly where this will go if I take that card from him. And while getting into bed with a random, attractive man might be fun, I know it’s not the right thing for me. Before I can really consider what I’m doing, or fully absorb the last part, I put a hand out to stop him. “I’m very flattered, but I have to be honest with you. I won’t call you. I have a boyfriend.” The lie tastes sour on my tongue. Although, had it been three days earlier, it would have been the truth.
Avery does some kind of cough-choke thing, and I kick her under the table and get Harley on the back swing.
His smile falters for a moment, but he doesn’t break eye contact. “That’s disappointing, but unsurprising. I didn’t see a ring, so I’d hoped maybe luck was on my side.” He tips his head to the side. “Is it serious?”
“Pardon me?”
“You and this boyfriend, are you two serious?”
This guy is unbelievable. “And if we are?”
“Hmm.” He withdraws his hand and slips the paper in his pocket. “I’d hate for karma to pass judgment on me and get in the way of our future together, so I’m just going to hope I run into you again when you’re single. Have a lovely night, ladies.” He nods to my sisters and gives me one final lingering glance before he winks. “Thank you for existing.”

Hi Friends! I am a little late but here is my April Book haul! I brought in 8 books this month and have read 3 of them and plan on reading at least two more this month! What was your favorite book you acquired this month?
Hello fellow readers! I am here with my last round up for April and I feel really accomplished that I have already wrote all my reviews for it! I read 7 books to end out my month and had one more dnf. I also had 3 ARCs, 3 backlists and one re-read! Hope you ended the month with some good books! Let me know what you recently finished in the comments below!
The Sign For Home by Blair Fell – 2 Stars This book follows a deafblind person named Arlo who is looking for an interpreter to help him with a writing class he is taking at a community college. We follow both Arlo and his new interpreter Cyril. While in his writing class Arlo starts to re-think his memories and that maybe he wasn’t always told the truth about his past. I had a lot of problems with this book and the first one is that the synopsis pitches this as a romance and that Arlo goes on a journey to find his long lost love. Now this is a spoiler but he does not go to find her till 85% into the book. The entire first portion is his daily life and then flashbacks to when he was 17. This book was not a romance but a book on self discovery, knowing this may have helped me have a better frame of mind when I went into it. My other big problem with this is a personal trigger and that is using religion as a weapon and means of control. Arlo is a Jehovah Witness and this is a main part of his story and while that is not my religion I personally struggle with how it is portrayed in this book. I think there are people out there who will love this book and also need it for the representation that is in it. The author’s note went into some detail about that and I can appreciate where she was coming from. Again my problems with this book are mine and I hope if this book is something you were looking forward to reading that you still give it a chance. Thank you Atria for my #gifted copy of this book for review.
Giant Days Vol 1 by John Allison – 3 Stars This is a cute graphic novel that follows three roommates in their first year of college. Will try and pick up the next volume at some point.
The Wedding Season by Katy Birchall – 4 Stars Freya is dumped the day before her wedding in a broom closest by her partner of the last 12 years and her wedding was the first of the wedding season of which she had 8 other’s to attend to after hers. While trying to live like everything is fine, Freya’s two best friends devise a list of things she must do at each wedding to her focus and not feel depressed that she ended up not getting married. Along the way Freya meets someone who also helps forget that Matthew, her ex, destroyed the life she thought she wanted. Overall I really enjoyed this book, at times I was very frustrated with how self centered Freya came across when wanting everyone to feel sorry for her but since I have not been in this situation I can’t say for sure that that is not an appropriate reaction. Matthew was a piece of work and I hated every time he was in the book but I loved her best friends and everything they did for her even when one of the weddings was theirs. I grew up watching Friend Green Tomatoes and there is a scene towards the end of the movie where the main character hits a car with her own and yells “To Wanda” because she was tired of being walked on. There is a scene at the end of this book where I wrote the note “To Wanda!” because someone finally got their due! At times this book was sad, happy and encouraging and I loved that. The reason it is not a full 5 star for me is because this book was again marketed as a romance but the romance was on the back burner to her self discovery of who she was and who she thought she wanted to be. There is a romance in this and it was good one and I loved him a lot but again it was not the main focus. Thank you St. Martin’s Press for my #gifted copy for review.
Set On You by Amy Lea – 3 Stars Crystal is a curvy influencer who just wants to share with other people that you do not have to be ripped and skinny to be in shape or work out at the gym. She creates a drama in her head when another gym goes uses a machine that she had put her stuff next too, she starts to refer to him as her nemesis and starts antagonizing him. Of course in this romance it works out for her as he is grandson of her grandma’s new fiancé. The two get thrown together and sparks begin to fly. When I first started this one I was really enjoying it but I didn’t love the second half as much. I felt like there were too many conflicts and they kept popping up with the family illness, the keeping of secrets then the complete over reaction to an instagram post. Speaking of the instagram posts, I really hated them, didn’t read them and felt like they took me out of the story. Instagram is not know for lengthy worded posts, they do happen occasionally but the majority are pictures with the lengthy worded cations but not the ones in this book. They were multi paragraphed and felt like long winded tweets. I felt like they could have at least said pic description for the posts. I recently finished a book that did this much better, it had just a symbol showing there was a picture then did the caption for it. This one made a lot more sense to me. I did really like the message that Crystal was putting out there that all body types can use gym equipment and not everyone looks the same. Over all the book was ok but not my favorite. If you like romances set around gyms and personal fitness ten you might like to try this one out. Thank you Berkley for my #gifted copy for review.
Kulti by Mariana Zapata – 5 Stars This was a re-read for me and I still loved it. This follows A woman’s soccer star and her grumpy coach! This is an age gap romance and not a grump sunshine trope but Kulti (the coach) is a very big grump and I am here for it.
A Lady’s Guide to Mischief and Mayhem by Manda Collins – 4 Stars This was a spur of the moment pick for me and I am glad I finally picked it up. Im trying to fill the void that Veronica Speedwell has left and this one did an ok job of it. This is a mystery and historical romance as well between a Lady who runs a newspaper and an inspector with Scotland Yard.
The Siren by Katherine St. John – 4 Stars I finally got to this book after getting from the publisher last year. This book was an experience and I was in it. The beginning started out slow for me but when I hit the 60ish% mark I couldn’t stop reading. This book follows the cast of a movie that is shooting in the Caribbean during hurricane season. Once the hurricane hit things got a little crazy in this one. Highly recommend if you want a thriller set around Hollywood types.
House of Hollow by – DNF I tried this one again and I just couldn’t do it. I was bored and I even went to read the end and I still had no desire to finish it.
