Reading Round Up: June 1st – 10th Part 2

Hello Friends! Here is part 2 of my round up! If you have read any of these let me know your thoughts below in the comments!

Fool Me Once by Ashley Winstead – 4 Stars Do you ever see a book and read the reviews and decide it’s not for you to only end up reading it anyways and really liking it? That was this one for me! After not finishing the authors first book I was reluctant to try her new romance and then seeing a certain review I decided I was going to skip it. But it ended up in my @authenticbooks box so I gave it it a chance and I am so glad I did! This book gave me all the feels and I was rooting for our main characters the entire time! My only draw back for this one is it is centered around politics and thats just not my jam. Can’t wait to see what she does next!!

Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan – 5 Stars I spent an entire day on the couch and read this entire book in one sitting because I had been sick and didn’t want to do anything else. I could not put it down!!  This is about Nora who writes scripts for a Hallmark like channel but ends up writing something more dark while going through a divorce. The new script is picked up and they actually use her house for part of the filming which is how she meets actor and former sexiest man alive Leo Vance. Leo needing a break asks to stay on Nora’s property and the two start up a friendship. I could have used a little more at the end but otherwise this book was pretty perfect! Thank you @bookswithnopictures for passing this one along so I could read with you! If you are looking for a good vacation read I would look into this one!

Can’t Look Away by Carola Lovering – 4 Stars I am not sure how to categorize this book, the closest I can think of would be a domestic suspense. We are following two different points of view and a few different timelines, our main characters are Molly and Sabrina. Molly meets Jack in 2013 and they had a relationship while hi band was just taking off now in present day she is married to Hunter and living in a small town in Connecticut. Molly is struggling with her life and not fitting into their new town when she meets Sabrina. The two quickly become friends but Sabrina is keeping secrets and when they are revealed both of their lives will change. I really enjoyed this one and once I started I could not put it down. The story was fast paced and I didn’t have any problems when we jumped back in time. I have another book by this author and I am excited to read it after enjoying this so much. Thank you St. Martin’s Press for my gifted copy for review!

After The Bite by Lynsay Sands – 5 Stars This book doesn’t come out till September but I could not resist starting it once I was approved! This is book #35 in The Argeneau series and follows Enforcer Valerian as he is tasked with protecting Natalie and her daughter from a possible serial killer. Natalie is the owner of a golf course and one evening while mowing the green she is attacked, Valerian who was finishing up his round of golf witnesses the attack and comes to her aid. While trying to help her Valerian discovers that he can not control her which means he may have finally found his life mate! I always enjoy these books, they are one of my all time favorite series and every book as just as good as the first! I especially love getting to see past characters as well as the fact that these stories have over arcing plots so the books are connected. However, this one is a good starting place because the story is a new one and the only spoiler would be seeing a few of the couples from previous books. If you are looking for a fun paranormal romance series with excellent writing, great action and swoony romance than I would highly recommend this one! This one is out September 27th but the previous 34 books are already out. Thank you Avon for my gifted copy for review!

On Rotation by Shirlene Obuobi – 3 Stars Angela Appiah is a Ghanaian-American who is in medical school and recently bombed a major test much to this disappointment of her family and on top of that she was just dumped. Deciding she needed a me day she goes to a street fair and has a good cry in a secluded garden. While in the garden Angela meets Ricky who was in there drawing, the two decide to spend the day together and strike up a friendship. This story is much more than just the progression of their relationship but also about the struggles that Angela goes through as a med student as well as first born daughter who feels the weight of her family on her shoulders alone. I really struggled with this one and I am not sure why. The writing drew me and I read it very quickly but I never felt attached to the two characters and wasn’t very invested in their story. Over all this one was just ok for me but I am curious to see what else this author writes in the future. Thank you Avon and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review.
