Hi Friends! I know I am late with this one but my weekend just got away from me and I really wanted to do this topic because I LOVE thrifting books!
Friday’s are for The Let’s Talk Bookish Meme which is a weekly meme created and hosted by Rukky@EternityBooks and Dani@Literary Lion and todays topic is: BUYING SECONDHAND BOOKS (HASINI @ BIBLIOSINI)
Do you buy secondhand books? Yes! I am trying to cut back this year but I still love to hit up my local thrift stores and used bookstores to see what treasures I can find! I personally love thrifting because I buy so many books that this is one way I can help my bank account a little bit.
What are the benefits of buying secondhand? The main benefit for me at least is the price, depending on where I go most books cost me $1 – $5 and sometimes those can be for new releases! You can also find previous editions this way that are no longer in print. Another small thing I like about thrifting is what you can find in the books; notes, pictures, bookmarks etc.
What are the cons of secondhand books? I think the main con is that it is not really supporting authors as they do not make any money when you are not buying new. So if it is an author that I truly love to support I will always buy their book new.
What do you recommend people do to better support secondhand bookstores? I think you just have to find out if there are any in their area and try them out!
What are your thoughts on this? Do you like thrifting books? Let me know in the comments below!
