Hello Friends! How was everyone’s week? Mine was good but ready for the weekend. The hubby and I are going up to the mountains for our anniversary and I can’t wait.
Very Sincerely Yours by Kerry Winfrey – 4.5 Stars This was such a cute story about finding one’s self and what kind of person they want to be. Teddy recently gets dumped after 6 years together and suddenly finds herself with nowhere to go. She also doesn’t know who she is without her boyfriend, for the past 6 years she has been solely focused on him and his needs. Teddy turns to her two best friends who let her stay with them and they come up with a plan to help her find out who she really is. Teddy must do something every day that scares her, it can be a big or small thing but it needs to scare her.
Teddy also has a secret that she loves watching a local kids show called Everett’s Place, think Mr. Rogers. One day she decides to email him for some advice and the two start such a cute email exchange! The two do eventually meet and I loved their relationship so much. Both characters were working on things in their personal lives and I enjoyed how they dealt with these challenges. Everett was just such a sweet guy! I also really enjoyed the parts with Teddy and her friends, they were so supportive her! They had the cutest themed movie nights where they pick a movie and all the food matches it! I highly recommend this one if you are looking for a sweet romance with a side self discovery. Thank you Berkley and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review!
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun – 4 Stars This was a fun romance that takes place on a reality dating show. Charlie is this season’s prince and Dev is his handler for the show. Charlie is very shy and standoffish, he is not comfortable being on the show but is only doing it to help his reputation so he can get back into his work. Dev is the opposite, he is very upbeat and a happy person who believes in the fairytales that he helps create one the show. Their relationship was so fun to watch! I don’t watch reality tv so I don’t usually go for stories like this but I really enjoyed. I love a sunshine and grump and this one did not disappoint there. I struggled with the story towards the end, I just wasn’t a fan of one the plot devices but overall still a great read. Highly recommend this one, especially if you are a fan of The Bachelor type shows. Thank you Atria Books and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review! This one comes out 9/7/21.
Hana Khan Carries On by Uzma Julaluddin – 3 Stars I am learning from my reading over the past several months that I am not a fan of romances that take place in a radio studio or podcasts. There is just something about it that takes me out of the story. Hana wants to be in radio and works part time for a local station and also has a podcast she does weekly. When not doing that she helps out at her parents halal restaurant. Aydin is trying to prove to his father that he can run a successful business and decides to open a halal restaurant near Hana’s families. The start off with a big clash but slowly start to help each other out. Over all this book was just ok for me. I was not invested in the characters and at times it felt like they were much younger then they actually were. My favorite parts were with Hana’s cousin who cam for the summer, he was so fun and cute! I also really liked Hana’s family dynamic, they were all great characters and I enjoyed their stories the most. This is my second book by this author and while I enjoyed her first book more I will still continue to pick up her books!
It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey – 4 Stars Tessa Bailey really knows how to bring the steam and this one does not disappoint. This story is kind of pitched as a Schitts Creek inspired story as the main character Piper is a media influencer and has never know hardship because of the life she is used too. After a major incident lands her in jail her step father decides enough is enough and sends her to the small fishing town in Washington where she was born. Once there, Piper is so far out of her depth and she isn’t sure how she will survive the months till she can go back to LA. Brendan is a sea captain who has lived in the town his entire life and doesn’t have time for the spoiled but beautiful woman who just waltzed into his life. The two have a rocky start but within chapters there is an attraction between the two. I did feel like this was a very insta lovey story and those are not my favorite. This book takes place over a month and I just like my romances to be a little bit more drawn out. I did really like both main characters and their individual stories as well as their romance. The people of the town were also great and I can’t wait for the next book because Im pretty sure Piper’s sister will get one! Thank you Avon and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review. This book comes out 7/13/21.
When Stars Collide by Susan Elizabeth Phillips – 4.5 Stars This book is #9 in the Chicago Stars series but my first and I can’t wait to go back and read the others in this series! This one follows Olivia who is a world renowned Opera Singer and Thad who is the backup quarterback for the Chicago Stars. The two are paired together for a month long ad campaign for luxury watches. This started out as a classic enemies to friends to lovers and I loved every minute of their story. My favorite parts were the insight into the opera world and I kept googling performances that were mentioned in the book. I also really enjoyed Thad and his dedication to his team. He knows he is second string and even though he wants to be a starter he never doesn’t give his all in training the young quarterback who is the starter. I loved how Thad referred to him as the idiot and I really hope he gets his own book because I loved his character so much!! This was such a fun romance with a dash of mystery and I highly recommend checking this one out! Thank you William Marrow and Netgalley for my gifted copy for review, this book is out 6/29/21.
