Synopsis:
I don’t want you.
You mean nothing to me.
I never loved you.
I turned my words into swords.
And I cut her down.
Shoved the blade in and watched her fall.
I said I’d never hurt her, and I did.
Years later, I’m faced with all the little lies, the untruths, the false realities, the damage I inflicted, when all I wanted was to indulge my obsession.
Lavender Waters is the princess in the tower. Even her name is the thing fairy tales are made of.
I used to be the one who saved her.
Over and over again.
But I don’t want to save her anymore.
I just want to pretend the lies are still the truth.
My Review
Sometimes I just need all the angst and this book delivered it!!! In Little Lies we are following Lavender and Kodiak. Kodiak is best friends with Lavender’s older brother Maverick and is two years older, growing up the two had a friendship that was very close. As they both got older and situations changed the two went from being inseparable to barely tolerating each other. Now as Lavender heads into her second year of college she changes schools and moves in with her older brothers in a house very close to Kodiak’s. I enjoyed all the other relationships in this book as well as the main romance, Lavender has a few brothers as well as some cousins who go to school there as well and I liked seeing them all together. I do wish we got a little more of the hockey aspect in this book but thats just a personal preference.
I appreciated the mental health rep that was shown in this one, both of the main characters struggle with anxiety and panic attacks but for different reasons and I loved how they dealt with it both by themselves and together. Both characters had to grow before they could rebuild their friendship and that is something I always appreciate in books. If you love angsty books I would highly recommend this one. I love Helena’s writing and this book did not disappoint! I hope we end up getting books for Lavender’s brothers and cousins too.

“We’re connected by invisible threads. I always seem to know when she’s sad or scared.” (Loved this quote from the book!)
