Reading Round Up: September 11th-20th

Hello Book Friends!! How is everyones month going? Mine is good so far, soccer has started back up so my weekends are filled with games for my kids. Leaves are starting to change here so we are also hoping we can get out soon to do some leaf peeping. I read some great books for this round up, my favorite is Alyssa Cole’s When No One Is Watching.

I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella – 4 Stars I went into this with some apprehension as I did not enjoy my previous Sophie Kinsella book. I am so glad I gave this one a chance because it was a really funny romance book. I do wish we would have had some romantic interaction between the two main characters but I understand why we didn’t. Highly recommend this one if you are looking for a fun lighthearted read.

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson – 3 Stars Im not sure where to start with this one. Overall I liked the writing and found the story to be entertaining. My problem with the book was the main character Pip, she was a high schooler who decided that rules did not apply to her. At times she disregarded the rules and acted as if she was an adult and could do whatever she wanted. Maybe it’s because I am a parent but I really struggled with her as a character. Overall I think people would probably enjoy this one more than me.

Well Met by Jen Deluca – 4 Stars Re-Read I really enjoyed this one the first time and just as much this time!! I love a good ren faire and this one sounds like so much fun!! If you are looking for a romance with a fun setting this one is it! Simon is the grumpy teacher who now makes sure that the fair happens and Emily is new to town helping out her sister and niece after a bad car accident. The two get off to rocky start but their alter Faire egos can’t stay away from each other. If you are looking for a fun enemies to lover’s this is a good one.

When No One Is Watching by Alyssa Cole – 5 Stars I don’t even know where to begin with this book, I loved it so much!! I started listening to the audio of this while I was in my car driving for work but had to know how it ended so picked up my physical copy. We follow Sydney who lives in Brooklyn and notices some weird things going on her neighborhood. Her friends and neighbors who have been there her entire life are suddenly leaving with no goodbye and a new type of person is moving in. With the help of a new friend the two dig more deeply into what is happening. This was a great thrill ride from beginning to end and I highly recommend picking this one up! Thank you Netgalley and Librofm for my copies of this book.

Grin and Beard it by Penny Reid – 4 Stars This one was a re-read for me and I love this series so much. This is the second book in the Winston Brother’s series and it’s about Jethro who is the oldest of the seven children. Jethro has always been one of my favorite brother’s, he had a not so great past but he has really been trying to make amends. Jethro is a park ranger and is working to help remove bears on a movie set and meets Sienna Diaz, star of the movie. These are some of my all time favorite books and I highly recommend this series!
