It’s time for the rest of January’s reading round up! I hope you have been enjoying what ever you have been reading. My month overall went really well, everything I have read has either been a 4 or 5 star for me until the last week and then I had a few that didn’t’t work for me. If you want to know more about what they are then keep scrolling!
Kind of Cursed by Stephanie Fournet – 5 STARS I decided to pick this one up on a whim from my kindle library when I was having a hard time getting into any of my physical books. I was so happy I did!! This book was so cute and instantly pulled me into Millie and Luca’s story. If you are looking for a heartwarming romance you should check this one out. (There are some sensitive topics discussed in this book that you might want to look into that before reading. Fertility, miscarriage, death of a parent.)
Such a Fun Age by Kiley Reid – 4 Stars This book was a little heavier than what I normally read, it deals with how one experience can be so different depending on your race. You get different perspectives from the two women involved, a white self made woman and a black babysitter. Over all I really enjoyed this book, I think the thing keeping it from being a 5 star was the ending. While I liked it I just felt it a little lacking. I did listen to this on audio and thought the narration was fantastic!
The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes – 4 Stars I have been trying to catch up on Reese Witherspoon’s bookclub so I decided to use an Audible credit one this book. I am so glad I did! This book took my to a time and place that I knew nothing about and now need to know everything I can find on it. It follows an English woman who married and moved to rural Kentucky in the 1930’s and helped take library books to the remote locations in the mountains. I highly recommend this book even if you are not a big reader of historical fiction. This was my first book Jojo Moyes and I am looking forward to trying more from her.
Little Weirds by Jenny Slate – 2 Stars Im not really sure how to rate this book. I found a few parts pretty funny but over all I was a little lost with this book. I listened to it on audio and really like hearing this from Jenny herself but this book was just not for me.
Forever Freed (Forever Bluegrass #13) by Kathleen Brooks – 5 Stars I have been reading this series and the ones before it for years and I still enjoy every book! This book centers around a small town in Kentucky and the people who live there. Kathleen writes such amazing characters and heart that you can’t help but love everyone in the books!
When You See Me by Lisa Gardner – 5 Stars I don’t even know where to begin with this book! I loved every minute of it and was so happy to return to these characters. Lisa Gardner has a way of just pulling you in and keeping you there till the last second and then you are left waiting for her next one! If you like a good mystery/thriller I can’t recommend this one enough. This is book #11 in her series and also ties in with another but having picked up the last book on a whim I had no problem starting from there.
Not the Girl You Marry by Andie J Christopher – 3 Stars This one was just ok to me. The book is a gender swapped retelling of How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days and I found it hard to get into. The story itself was really cute and I enjoyed listening to this on audio but it just never grabbed me.
I Owe You One by Sophie Kinsella – 2 Stars I wanted to like this book so much but it just didn’t’t work for me. I found the main character unlikable and the quirks that were supposed to be cute were irritating. I would recommend trying some of her other books before this one.
Effin’ Birds: A Field Guide to Bird Identification – 5 Stars
I just want to state that these are my own opinions and I understand we all have different reading tastes. I don’t mean anything against you if I didn’t like a book.
Until Next Time, Happy Reading!
