Reading Round Up: December Part 1

December was a very busy month for me, we had holidays and family and hockey and lots of work but I did manage to read 11 books this month! I was trying to get to 12 but got super sick right before the end of the year and didn’t make it. But thats ok I am still happy with my reading! That being said I already forgot what I read and so as usual these reviews are going to be short and more about how I felt while reading!

Throne of The Fallen by Kerri Maniscalco – 4 Stars I really this fantasy and was not expecting for it to be as spicy as it was. I will also say that this adult book is a follow up to a young adult series that follows the brother of our main male protagonist in this one. This book is a mix of historical fantasy and dark fae and I can’t wait to see if we get more in this series. We follow an artist named Camilla who has special powers that Demon Prince Envy really needs if he is going to save his kingdom. I liked the mix of a really good plot with steamy scenes. If you are a romantasy lover than I would highly recommend this one.

Raiders of the Lost Heart by Jo Segura – 3 Stars I have been a sucker for anything archeological since elementary school when I got to participate in a fake dig behind my school. Even though I knew it wasn’t in the cards I always loved the idea of being an archeologist and getting to discover ancient secrets that have been buried for hundreds of years, I even minored in Anthropology because that was as close to it as I could get at my school. This early discovery plus movies like Jurassic Park and The Mummy just cemented my life long love of these types of stories so as soon as I saw the premise for this book I knew I wanted to read it! If you are a fan of Indiana Jones, The Mummy or even the new movie with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum then I would highly recommend giving this one a try. This one came out on 12/5!!!! Thank you @berkleyromance for my gifted copy!

Rouge by Mona Awad – 3 Stars I know that this author’s books are always out there but this one was really out there! This is a story that follows a mother and daughter who have a strained relationship and are both obsessed with being beautiful. The ending still sits with me and there is one scene towards the end that I still have no idea what happened in it. If you like horror that is about more real aspects of life than I would check this one out. Now I really need to go read Bunny.

The Honeymoon Crashers by Christina Lauren – 4 Stars I needed a quick audio book so I picked up this audio original that follows the events after The Unhoneymooners which is one of my favorite books! This was a quick listen and I enjoyed listening to it.
